Dear everyone,

I have been a graphic designer for over 11 years in Kenya. We migrated last year to perth and loving each day. I decided recently that i wanted to get into nursing. Applied at west coast for certificate 4 in preparation for nursing education course. They have all my paper work have have asked me to do a numeracy test on 20 november 2014.

I am extremely nervous! I have been googling for the past week "sample test papers", "numeracy sample tests for nursing" etc etc....I only managed to get 3 papers that too very different from the other.

Can anyone who has done the exam point me in the right direction as to where i can find these sample papers. Also is the exam very hard? I think im not so bad with maths but its been a while since i last studied anything!

I would like to get to know your opinions also regarding how to choose a career path in nursing or does that happen later?

I look forward to all your help.

Thank You,

Fozia

Hi Fozia,

I did a numeracy test for a cert 3 over a year ago and found the test very easy - so if its the same sort of test you needn't be worried about it.

They use this at some TAFES/UNI's here in VIC.

Numeracy Componen:The Numeracy Component is a 30-minute test containing 40 multiple-choice questions that assess the ability to work with numbers and to solve arithmetic problems.

English Writing Skills Component:The English Writing Skills Component is a 45-minute test requiring candidates to write responses to sets of questions or topics. There are three different types of writing tasks.
