Try asking convenient stores or eatery around your area. Pretty sure they are hiring, but they tend to give lower wages than the supposed 'minimum wages'. It is not easy to get yourself a proper job in Australia, unless you are a Citizen/PR, so just bear with it for a few months. In the mean time, keep searching for the ideal job that suits you. (Or at least pays the bills)
With your expertise in nursing, I personally do not think it will be hard for you to look for a nursing job, since Australia do need experienced nurses.
