Many thanks to rednecks (Wendy) for sending the links.

I have since managed to find out that Gold Coast TAFE do an online version, and arrange placement in your local area. There is also the requirement of a residential each term.

Main page is:

Online course here:

(email me for links - bloody site wont post em grrrr)

Hope that helps others. WHyalla was just gonna be waaaaaaaaaay to hard for me to try and get to, at ANY point!

Cheers - Sarah

Additionally...
tnqit in cairns also does the course, but has an 8 week residential requirement, whereas GC has a one week per semester residential.
I am in FNQ but reckon between flights/driving and accom costs for each - its going to work out pretty much the same - just less time i need to be away from home!
Am waiting for a call back from GC - will update if i get any further info :)
Cheers,
Sarah

It is much cheaper at TAFE.

Two Tafe's that offer it online are

The Bremer Institute of Tafe: http://www.bremer.tafe.qld.gov.au/dds/search/openEnrolments.do;jsessionid=JH2LGpJKmFQkpWV71qGhLFXSj5ccyTWvDHSDNT98TywjqT8XLjM9!247182386?instituteID=739&keyword=nursing&call_centre_mode=false&externalCallMode=false&breadCrumbsBase=%3Ca+href%3D%22%2F%22+title%3D%22Home%22%3EHome%3C%2Fa%3E&accredited=true&course_id=22521&courseTypeFilter=&ins_spec=true

Gold Coast Tafe: http://www.goldcoast.tafe.qld.gov.au/search/course_finder/coursedetails.php?course_id=3331&version=9

However doing placements you need to attend the hospitals and clinical skills workshops

You can also do your RN's by distance education which may be a bit better from you in the sense that it is online and still covered by HECS

Just cut and paste the links and the courses will come up. Hope this may help some of you aspiring nurses! I love being a nurse and hoping that you all do further your education and go on to do great things in nursing! Good luck to all
