Hi I've just finished my diploma of nursing and am ready to start looking for jobs. Just wondering if the only option is to get a grad program? Everywhere I've looked that isn't a grad program is asking for 6 - 12 months experience. Grad programs are only offering around 6 positions each round with hundreds of people being interviewed. Just wanted to see how everyone else got their first job.

Dont get disheartened. I got a job in a doctors surgery a month after graduating.started in aged care where i worked as pc before hand. All my group got jobs .if not as grad spots.they were in casual pool with hospitals, doctor surgery , day clinics, homecare or agency. Just because it states must have the experience you can still apply for a job. You never know they might just get you in for a chat . Remember to use your placement hrs as experience on your resume. Good luck

I know there is no harm in asking so i'll always nag away when i see a job offer
