I am doing a research on EN(meds) in surgical ward. can anyone please tell me the scope of practice of EN(meds) in surgical ward. i know that they are allowed to administer medications. what else can they do in the surgical unit?

Hello are you an EN? if you are you need to look up your workplace policies on EN's scope of practice as different employers have different policies.

Hey,

Don't stress about your assignment too much think about what you have been tought in class and read your Brown & Edwards 2005. you can do, Wound care, S2, S3, S4 Meds, S8 under direct RN supervision, monitor IVs dont add any thing to the IV, Vitals and add why you do them. Remember surgical nursing is a huge area from pre op to post op, discharge and follow ups. Might be better to concentrate on one ward area to cover more detail.
