Hi Nicky,

I'm pretty sure you need a few years in working in Aged care or you need to pass year 12 in high school to be eligible...

Hi Nicky,

No, you don't need any qualifications.  You will do a literacy and numeracy test when you begin (about grade 10 level) I am about to finish the Diploma and I am a mature age student. I did mine online through GCIT.  You don't need to have done year 12, but be warned when it comes to registering with AHPRA you will need to prove 5 years of English.

Hi Nicky,

Exactly what Iainley said above.

I have just sat an entrance test for ACU diploma. You sit the test (quite basic English and maths) and then I had a very short interview (group of four applicants) asking why I wanted to study nursing. That what pretty much it. You don't need any formal qualifications or experience.

Hi Kazmt,

Can you suggest what kind of questions come in the ACU Entrance test... is it easy? what comes in english and maths?

It will really be helpful. I am kind of very tensed about the entrance test at ACU.

Thank You

Ishi

google, entry exam examples enrolled nursing or B of nursing.. You will get an idea.

I want to do enrolled nursing, I'm mature age student and primary carer of my 92 yr mum, I'm time poor. But really worried about my future when she's gone.

I from looking at example exams I'd do ok for enrolled nursing entry but would need help with my math for B of nursing entry.

I'm thinking about getting a private math tutor, I'm looking into things.

I may just go do my cert 111 aged care, and use the math support at tafe,, at least if so,etching happens to mum, I'd be employable with cert 111.. As it is I'm not. It's hard as a mature age person, loads of life experience, worked in care industry for years before one needed to have cert 111 for jobs. the doctor treating my mother in hospital over the pst weeks assumed I was a RN cause I knew the lingo, and she could see the experience I have, when I told her I was un qualified and un employable. Cause I choose to care for my dying father nursed him t home and also turned into mums primary carer hence, left work force,, now 7 yrs later, at 53"" I've gotta rebuild my life as a care worker,, the pay is dreadful. Plus, I've so much experience, my resume is extensive.

All of us have our stories, all of us on these forums have a love for caring for people in need.

Look at example tests, don't get to distressed, I don't know your age or what city etc your in,,

but there will be a way forward. Follow your heart, and I'm sure one day you will look back and maybe be sending a email like this to someone starting out and worried about entrance exams.

Best of luck. PATRICIA-KIM
