well, so much for the thrill and excitement. im actually terrified now...... orientation day was a big kerfuffle, (mixed delivery mode) some ppl didnt even have their study guides, they ran out of textbooks, and no-one had even received the assignment lists....... i am now waiting delivery of books and assignment list. However to get started we have to do a concept map for the integumentary system. will eventually do one for each body system.... but im stuck...have done a rough draft..sort of...i just keep adding to it and it seems as if there is no end of information......soon i will need a single bed sheet to present it on......now i see why online/mixed delivery is hard. still awaiting an email reply from our nursing teacher...i think now i may have preferred a classroom setting. we do have an A&P workshop on 1st march..hopefully i will get something from that. so here i am, sitting in maccas, sucking up their free wi-fi, nursing books and lappy spread out, latte at my lips, feeling so dumb...... at least the coffee is good. am on 2 weeks sick leave so can only imagine how i will feel once im back at work, fitting everything in.
sorry for the rambling, but right now, u guys r the only ones that could possibly 'get it'

cheers,
erika

quirks aka erika,

I thought Maccas' WiFi is a dial up instead of ADSL...LOL...Its so slow. Ahhh...you seem like you're fitting in real well. Awww, don't need to over do the assignment otherwise you'll graduate as a dermatologist..:)

I think it a bit overwhelming at first because of the amount of information we need to process but with the amount of lattes you're sipping, you'll be a night stalker by day's end.....lol. I really admire you...working and studying at the same time...takes a lot of dsicipline.

Anyways, wishing you all the best and may you enjoy the clinical pracs.

hi schizo aka ??? lol
yeah maccas wi-fi is seriously slow...dont think i will do that again....... night stalker made me smile...im on permanent night shifts so kinda stalk all my sleeping ressies anyway.
i do tend to try and add as much info as i can to assignments so i dont leave anything out. i worry and panic way too much.....but... dermatology, hmmmm interesting lol.
so looks like take-away lattes are the go from this point on and see where this rollercoaster takes me to......

cheers, erika

Quirks, are the eyes bloodshot yet? :(

Seriously be mindful of what needs to be in the assignments...usually you will need to distill to fit the word count and it can be tricky. Back in Uni. they penalised us if we exceed word count by 10%! Sucks.

Anyway, if its any consolation...I am in the same boat as you..sipping lattes whilst doing my assignments for my post graduate modules and if lady luck favours me I might yet see the end of the tunnel in 2-3 years time. Meanwhile to manage stress I alternate between pulling my hair out and then applying the Leimo hair regeneration treatment so that I would have more hair to tug out the next time I hit a low. Wonder if a dermatologist can help me here...lol

All the best and try not to wake up the ressie for company...:)

hi schizo..........well silly me after all this time thought u were female....till i just read one of yr replies on another thread, and u mentioned a wife!!! not that it makes any difference of course, but i had to laugh at my presumptiveness..(is that a word even?? lol) so that is what gives u the option of pulling yr hair out........... id look pretty dicky with no hair, so will refrain from de-rooting it and find other methods to deal with stress......... for the moment tho, lattes r my only option...
my eyes r beyond bloodshot........i cant believe i sometimes entertain the thought of doing my RN's after this diploma.........will wait and see on that one.
sounds like u r a scholar my friend and i think i could learn a lot from u..........
well the dermatology is going well. lol....assignment is about ready to send in.... at our workshop my teacher said i had WAAAAAAAAY enuff info..to keep it simple. HA all that worry for nothing...
i just wanna pass this and upskill myself....
good luck, sir , with yr studies....
cheeers,
Erika

Many thanks Erika for your wishes, have disappeared from the Forum for a while because of the ungodly shifts that they have me on. I am actually part time 8 days a forthnight but for the past 3 weeks I have been covering for those on holidays and am constantly battling for time to study...sigh.

Don't worry about the gender mix up...people often do even when they see me in REAL life!!! LOL. Sorry in your first post you mentioned an A and P workshop...what's that? bad enough I have to content with nurses short form but this one takes the icing on the cake...lol. Got confirmation that my hospital's paying for my studies..hurray. Hope it won't be short lived.

Read from another thread that you're having a ball of a time...good to hear that..am very glad you're having fun.

Keep all of us posted on your journey...would love to read a blog of your thoughts about the whole thing....I would have a latte before me then, cause it will be a blast!!! All the very best madam Quirks.
