update #2
1) Starting salary.
Salary should be 1009.10/week excluding allowance and tax in 3/2014. (It will be 984.50 if you start before 3/2014.) And this refers to public hospital. Private and age care facilities have their own pay scale.
2) Are you able to stay after 1st year new grad?
If I did not remember wrongly, they will only offer you 1 year contract. After 1 year, it will depends if they need/want you or not.

4) What kind of opportunities are there?
Depends on route you intend to go. here are a few routes you can go and each requires you to do different things. (There are more, but do some research on your own. =p)
Hands on - Clinical nurse specialist (CNS), Nurse practitioner (NP), Nurse accredited surgeon assistant (NASA, note only private hospital)
Paperwork - Clinical nurse educator(CNE), Nurse unit manager (NUM).
Research - Nurse researcher
Clinical nurse consultant (CNC)as well... But not sure where they fall under...
5) When can you become part time RN.
As long as you feel adequately trained and there is a vacancy available. I have seen year 2 RNs go part time and the ward is happy to accommodate their wish.
Best of luck in getting a grad position!!
