I would love to hear any advice for the grad program at PMH. I will be applying next year and want to do anything to better my chances of obtaining a grad position there. Has anyone here been successful there? Is it super competitive?

I have experience working in aged care, high care disabilities, and in a large private hospital. I'm also about to start a volunteer program with the starlight foundation in PMH.

Any information, guidance or advice regarding PMH grad programs would be so very appreciated :)

Cheers,

Steph

Hi Steph

I wouldn't stress about getting a spot at PMH.  I am set to graduate next month and so completed my GradConnect application in July for February 2013 start.  I didn't even put PMH as a preference in my application and they still phoned me and ask me to come for an interview.  Then they offered me a job - which I then turned down - coz I don't want to be pigeon holed as a paeds nurse.  I haven't got any experience at all (I am changing careers from an accountant) and they were still keen.

I think the focus should be to put PMH as 1st preference on your GradConnect application, doing well in your interview with clinical questions and making sure you have amazing references from your lecturers, clinical supervisors etc.

If you do volunteer work with Starlight that would just increase your chances.  From what I found this year it wasn't overly competitive - you just have to impress in your 10 minute interview!

Good luck!

Cheers

Bec
