Hey Everyone,

I am currently applying to become a Enrolled nurse. I have my group interview soon. I'm nervous about the interview itself, but I think the main thing that I am nervous about is potentially being the only Male there. Sounds rather silly but when I did my Literacy and Numeracy, I couldn't help but feel out of place.

Wanted to see if anyone can give me a bit of info on what its like being a male nurse, and also what the general view on male nurses is like.

Thanks

Hi jaza2003,

Congratulations on taking the first step towards becoming a Nurse! I am a male student, studying at JCU in Townsville. I've just completed my first semester, and depspite having some concerns (much the same as yours) at the beginning, after this first semester, I can honestly say, Nursing is what I want to do! Yes, you do see a lot of females working in Nursing, but in my cohort, there are quite a few guys, and none of us get treated any differently. Nursing is such a rewarding career, and I can't wait to get out there and make it my lifelong career! Best of luck in your studies, keep us updated on here on your progress.
