Julzw, im an EEN too, just finished in Nov 2010- and yeh you get 80 credit points, so basically first year is credited. if you already were registered and they know that at CDU i think you should have been automatically been credited, but if your like me and didnt have rego yet when you applied, then like me you need to fill out the form for credit and send a copy of your rego to CDU for the credit to be done for you. jules

Hi Jules Yes your right, CDU sent me an email with the exemption form attached. I had to get certified copies of my Diploma transcript and my AHPRA registration. Are you going ahead and starting next month. I am from country NSW and was told by a RN that CDU was the best. He had completed his first year at Charles Sturt in Wagga and then transferred for the rest, he said it was the best move he had made. He told me that a lot of the exams you sit are online which is excellent. I am really nervous about whether or not I have the brains to get through, but I wont know unless I give it a go. It would be so good to have someone at the same stage so we can support each other when things get tough. Julie

hi julie, yeh im going to start next month. im only going to do 2 subjects 1st semester- for 2 reasons, firstly bcos im a permanent resident and just found out that we no longer get the ability to defer payments like when i was at uni previously- we have to pay upfront. and its too expensive to try and do 4 subjects and try and find the money before 31/3. so instead i'll do 2 subjects, and get citizenship organised before 2nd semester so i can then defer payments for the rest of the course. initially i was going to do f/t 1st sem and then p/t 2nd sem for various reasons, so its not too big a deal. i figure it'll let me get a feel for how much time i need to dedicate to uni stuff. im also going to be starting a new job in feb so its probably for the best really that i start off p/t. and since theres summer school as well i'll just try and pick up subjects over summer too ino order to speed things along down the track. my sister and i are both starting with CDU this year, so theres theres a few of us that are going into 2nd year! we can definitely keep in touch for suport. i think we all have a little bit of self doubt- but i also have a friend who has been studying nursing with CDU for 3 yrs p/t and she loves it- it works well for her so i take a bit of comfort in her opinion. we could even start a little email contact group once uni gets started for those in here that want to be a part of it? : ) jules

Im studying 3 subjects per semester, which is still considered full time load. I also work 8-4.30 Mon-Fri. You just have to manage your time. Over time you will develop your own process for doing things.

Hi everyone, I did 18 months on campus & I am awaiting to see how much RPL I get. Just wondering if there are any pple from Perth? I would also appreciate it if anyone can tell me were they did their placements & if it was hard being placed interstate. Also with summer school, it looks like its only a few 1st yr units that can be completed in Summer sch. Has anyone done 2nd/3rd yr units during summer? If anyone has completed their degree with CDU pls share with us your experiences, I am sure there are other pple who would love to know as well.

I am in 2nd year and am currently doing 3 2nd year subjects in summer semester. However, these 3 subjects are part of the old structure. Im not sure how they will be offered from 2011. Im currently doing Pharmacology, Pathophysiology and Med/Surg. Path and Pharma are being combined into a 2 part subject with Microbiology called changes to body something or other. The course has its ups and downs, but its what suits me so you just have to get on with it and find your rhythm. Its taken me 12 months to do that!

Hi everyone just thought i'd join the conversation as i'm keen to hear about everyones experience with CDU. I unfortunately missed out on getting into a uni in my state so have decided to put in a fairly late application to CDU to do the bach of nursing externally. I just completed my div 2 course last year. I've heard really good things so far. I'm looking at part time; from the point of view i want to work as much as i can when we dont have clinicals and im a bit worried about the workload as i've never been to uni. Anyway, Hopefully i get in and we can all get a bit of an email group or something going to help each other out.

I'm doing full time study at CDU and working 3 shifts a week. If I was doing it externally I would be able to do 4 but the lecture timetable doesn't fit in.

I am currently studying full time at CDU, i am in my third year. i have two children, studying full time and working. i would like to ask you all for your opinion on the frequenly changing wound care requirements and materials. i am doing a research proposal on this and would love your input. CDU is great but you need to have support and be able to bounce ideas of other people. i look forward to your relies cheers

Hi everyone, my name is Serena. I'm going to be studying bachelor nursing in 2012 externally however I haven't decided whether to do it through CDU or UNISA. I was almost sold on unisa until I was told about alot of people having problems getting placed in local hospitals for their pracs (I live in Margaret river which is 3 hrs south of Perth, WA) and have children and a husband that works away so really going to Adelaide for prac placements is not an option.
I was interested to know if anyone in WA studying at CDU has had issues getting their pracs in local hospitals? Also how have you found the support with studying online? And the workload??
Sorry lots of questions! I just really want to make the right choice as it seems that transferring can be very difficult!! Thanks guys!!

Hi serena. I'm in Melbourne and haven't done any clinicals yet so I can't really comment on that. But the study load isnt too bad and there is heaps of support through discussion boards and u can always call the lecturer or email them.

Hi Serena, I too am applying for CDU for next year, as well as CSU, uniSA, and CQU. Do you have any nursing training background? I want to study full time, I do have 3 children under 4 at home and a husband that works full time.
Im from country Victoria. Keep us posted if you get in or not.

Are you an EN mrsmedic? If so, I would suggest going with CSU.

Hi AngelaM, well not exactly an EN...I did my Cert IV in Health (Nursing) which is equivalent to RN Div2, or EN as some may call it, but I did this back in 2003 and did not get my registration as I went on and did my paramedic training. And have never worked as a nurse, or an ambo. So I am not sure if the uni's will take my course that I did as credit or not. I dont mind doing the entire 3 years just as long as I get accepted into something.
