Hi guys,

So a bit of a background. I used to work as a RA in a lab at UQ and was about to start a Phd at the Royal Brisbane. The only reason i was going to do it was to get into the clinical side of things. Took a bit of a break to work in the Fitness Industry and now am contemplating doing nursing as a way to get into the clinical side of things.

So my question is realistically, how hard is it? and if this is the path I want to go down, is being a EN enough or do I need a full degree?

Thanks guys!

I think you need to get full degree of the course. As you have worked in a fitness care zone, it is not going to be very tough to you, but yes there are so much responsibilities and caring needed by this profession.

Hi sheenie,

with your work as an RA and your almost-start of a PhD you are clearly smart enough! QUT and UQ have graduate entry, where you only have to do 2 years to graduate as an RN (or 18 months I think, at UQ, if you do summer school). I was like you, deciding whether to do RN or EN, and went for RN because there seems to be a wider range of places and specialties to work in, the pay will be a little bit higher, and the cost for the courses (if you do it in 2 yrs) is roughly the same. I'm starting grad entry at QUT next month, so will let you know how tough it is if you like  :)

cheers,

ratty.
