VOLUNTEERS/JOB PLACEMENTS WATCH OUT YOUR THE MOST VULNEBERABLE AND WE THE PAID NURSES OR PCA GET OUR HOURS CUT BACK BECAUSE THEY HAVE FREE WORKERS. OH WELL ITS THE SYSTEM IN THE AGED CARE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU WILL GET THE WORST RESIDENCE AND THE MOST WORK AND TOLD TO ALOT OF THING S YOU WONT LIKE!

JUST REMEMBER TO STICK TO TWO PEOPLE OR STOP WORKING THATS THE POLICY STOP AND REFUSE.

GET HELP BEFORE YOU TRANSFER ELDERLY TO SHOWER CHAIRS AND MAKE SURE THEY COME BACK. OR ELSE RING THE COMPANY AND FROM YOU MOBILE AND LET THEM KNOW OF YOUR SITUATIONS. IF YOU CANT FIND SOMEONE

ITS OK THEY ARE AT FAULT NOT YOU.DONT RUIN YOUR NURISNG CAREER FOR ANYONE THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT

DONT BREAK ANY RULES OR TAKE SHORT CUTS

FOLLOW THE PCA YOU SHOULD SEE WHAT HAPPENS

OH WELL AT LEAST THE RESIDENTS GET FED AND THE OCCASIONAL CHANGE INCONTINENCE I BELIEVE.

ARE YOU UP TO ALL THE EMOTIONAL SIDE OF IT

WITH A LITTLE TIME YOU WILL BECOME LIKE THE REST AND YOUR LOVE FOR THE RESIDENCE WILL BECOME A JOB.

SOMETHING WILL DETERIORATE INSIDE YOU YOUR EMOTIONS WILL CEASE.

Hi endless,

Not really sure what your point is. I find your posts difficult to understand. I think the majority of people replying to posts are just trying to be supportive no matter how insignificant the topic may seem.I for one have asked for help plenty of times and I am really grateful to everyone who has taken the time to respond and I in turn will try to help anyone I can even if it's just to say good luck for a vetassess! A little kindness goes a long way!

It's such a shame you sound so bitter about nursing and it makes me wonder why you bother if you are so unhappy. I hope things pick up for you.

HI All,

I am currently looking at taking the numeracy and literacy test to gain entry to Meadowbank Tafe (NSW) to study the Diploma of Enrolled Nursing, does anyone out there have any infomation as to where i can find sample tests for the NSW numercy test? So far I have found samples of the college of nursing web site for literacy test.
I would also like infomation what to expect through the whole process?

Cheers
Bec

Hi All,
I, too am new to this forum, and have completed my VETASSESS exam last Friday. Just waiting for results now. I have applied at RMIT and Holmsglen for midyear intake and would love the opportunity to be a nurse.
Just a little tip...LISTEN to the instructions given. We were asked to INITIAL our personal details, most participants signed. We were asked NOT to seal our envelopes, and again, participants sealed envelopes.
I guess it should be part of the test, and most probably is. If you can't follow a SIMPLE instruction, what hope is there?
Anyway, on a brighter note, I am looking forward to receiving my results. Does anyone know if they are available online once processed, or just keep running to the letterbox each day?
My fingers are crossed, at 39 I've finally decided what I want to do :)

Hi Brooklyn,

The questions I had on my vetassess were 1) If you had a family move into the neighbourhood who couldn't speak or understand english very well what would you do to help them? 2) If you were confined to a bed for a lengthy period of time what qualities would you like your carer to have? 3) Write a letter to a family member or friend convincing them to give up smoking and the consequences of being a smoker.

I hope this helps some, Good Luck!

i don't know if i mentioned this before

but by far the worst part of the test is waiting for the results

omg

it is torture, especially since the guy said it would not take 2 weeks even though that is the standard waiting period.

i took the test on the 28th and i am dying to know!!

how long does it bloody take to assess the results..especially since it is mostly computerised!

:(

Hey Sarbear,

Hey Nalan,

you're right the waiting is torture!!

I waited 6 weeks to get my vetassess results!

Hang in there and keep yourself busy!

Hi Megan

I think i went ok. I completed all the maths and engish section of the test aswell as the writing section.

I had to guess the last few answers for the maths section as i was running out of time.
Im more concerned about getting into a course . Holmsglen moorabin only take 40 people! grrrrrrrrr

Hi Sarbear

I have just got into Mayfield and it is fully funded, although it is a traineeship and I have to work 6 hours somewhere. I sat the exam last Wednesday, was called Thursday with results, had an interview yesterday and was told at interview that I had a place.

I know they also had the normal course part time 2 days per week, and I think that started in June.

Keep an eye on their web site.

Hope this helps.

Hi guys

I got my results back

Literacy 40/40

Numeracy 28/40

and satisfactory for the two other components..

Now i have to wait for the interview, they are going to send a letter to let me know when it will be in a few weeks!!

i have to wait 2 weeks again, this is ridiculous, did you guys have to wait that long for interviews as well?

i have a feeling they will make me wait another 2 weeks after the interview too

*cries* and my score is not that great as the numeracy drags everything down : (

Hi Nalan,

Well done with your exam!

Don't stress too much about your score you will be able to make it up in your interview! Just go in really positive and confident in your abilities! Also I found it handy to google interview questions the day before my interview just to have a bit of an idea on some of my answers and it did help!!

Let me know when you hear anymore, Megan

Hi Alli,
Yes, its Moorabin. I have also applied to RMIT out at Bundoora, but that is part time, so I would much rather Holmsglen. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well now. Have just updated my resume to take on Thursday.....
