Hello

some of the questions were in relation to percentages, decimals, etc

Vetassess itself has a sample test to help you prepare

two in fact.

one is in pdf format the other on the website

they helped me and i used nothing else apart form those 2 samples i mentioned..and i got 28/40 ..not a great score granted, but it is great for me considering i am a complete math phobe

but i thought you could only sit a vetassess test once every 3 months? i could be wrong

Hi!

I sat on the Vetassess last month, luckily I found this web site and ask for help as well, go to ENROLLED NURSING, you will see my post "Vetassess exam" , Megan told me a lot of tips there so you will know more how to improve your test next time, also, she did the test at Health Train and got a really high score, maybe she can share more with you, just go to look at our message there, hope it can help you.

http://www.vetassesstest.com.au/index.cfm?u_GridState=HOME&u_SiteState=nursing&Show=C4H#Sample

Hi copy and paste that link.

and you will see a sample test area with 2 links

if you click on one, it will open up another window and take you to some sample questions

the other is a preperation guide and if you click on it it will allow you to download the pdf file

they are great and just what you need for the vetassess test

THankyou

I have looked at that before. I practised those and it didnt really help me. I found about of the vetesse questions were about problem solving.

Eg the one with the injection and you had to see how much medication was in it and the one with the box and you had to count how many boxes there was. ( i think)

arhhhh :(

Hey, i am currently studying with health train.. but i sat my entrance exam nearly 18 months ago so it may have changed slightly... although as the others mentioned speak to megan on here.. i think her username is megan08 or something like that.. she recently sat the health train test and is starting with them in july so she will have more of an insight as to what questions are on the exam.
But over all... with the maths.. know how to break down fractions to a smaller fraction... so for eg... 25/100 would be 1/4 ... that kinda stuff from what i remember threw me when i did my exam.. as i too am not the smartest when it comes to math (dropped out of highschool in yr 10 to pursue a hairdressing career)...
I've heard alot of people complaining about the ammount of time they get on the vetassess test not being long enough... but i found with health train i had plenty of time for the exam.
Hope this helps.

Hi Sarbear,

I have replied to your email,

I was thinking it really helped me to google anything and everything to do with fractions, decimals, percent etc. The charles sturt uni site was great for all your basic maths and it's especially for student nurses with lots of practice questions, another good site was flinders midwifery and nursing . There are oodles of sites on the web. If your stuck on a particular area focus on that first. You can do it don't give up! I hadn't done any real maths in about 18 years and I basically just taught myself all over again and it paid off! I too felt disheartened after my vetassess but believe me you will have a better experience with healthtrain I' m sure. Just practice, practice, practice!!!!! Best of Luck!

Can't help with questions etc, but am in the same boat. looks like there are a few of us from on here that are doing the test on Thursday. Maybe we can all give each other some moral support on the night. Anyone else doing the test?? The good thing about the study is I've been helping my 12 year old daughter with her fractions homework and I knew what to do (maths is not my strong point!) So, who else - by the way real name is Tina

Is it possible to get a copy of the test you did to find out where the errors are, then at least you have the areas to work on? Don't give up, at least you know now what's required and the next one will be easier.

megan08!!!!!!! are you in my course at healthtrain?.... LOL!!!! Started in June this year?..... Mmmmm... LOL!

As for the pre entrance exam at Healthtrain. I dont want to say it was easy but it wasn't as bad as what i'd thought it would be...

I am no intellectual and my maths always fails me but i passed, so basic study of converting improper fractions to decimals was the key for me.... The English component was basic, however, those who's English is a second language 'may' find this part difficult.

Overall, go to the vet assess site and look at the questions and get a feel for what yoy MAY get. I was told later that studying improper fractions and conversion to decimals was the main area and also division.

Hope this helps... x
