Congrats Tamzof and I hope you do really well in your course. Studying external can be difficult to maintain focus and momentum, so put together some good resources and support for yourself. You might even find starting a topic here for external students might help.

Thanks for the advice Darren, i completed a cert IV aged care and SSK10 through UNISA externally and kept ALL the resources from them, anything you can get your hands on is invaluable. Any good sites you can suggest? I started the topic u suggested too, hopefully there will be some other external students on here!!!

Tamzof...how long will it take you to complete the course by distance?? and is it expensive?? i started an 'internal' Bachelor of Nursing in 1998 but after a year had to withdraw due to family circumstances. i also worked in aged care for 2 years and currently work for a large nursing agency in a internal 'office' role and have done for a while. i think i really would like to consider going back and doing nursing again..as ive never lost the interest and know that its a great career for fitting around having a family etc as my mum is a nurse and it has been great for her in this way. but i couldnt do full time internal study now due to financial commitments. so distance appeals since you can (i assume) do most of it in your own time??? my only concern would be that science subjects such as Anatomy &physiology, physics, chemistry would probably be exceptionally difficult to learn via distance (given that im not exactly a science brain- more humanities) as i found them tough enough the first time round and that was face to face. can anyone offer any info advice who has done the course by distance or knows alot about it??

Jules, I should have put in my other post to you that I think you'll find that when you do your A&P subjects, alot of it will come back to you from your previous studies. There are also study groups you can form with others via MSN or chats on here. The only silly question is the one not asked!!!! I for one would be willing to help you and others if necessary. I am no scientist either!! Cheers Celle

Tewaz here....about to complete my Diploma in Nursing graduate July. Planning on applying to CDU from Qld Brissy thou. Just waiting for mid year intake to open. Hope i get thru. Have had a rough year. Dont know if you guys are aware of wat happened in Brissy within regards to a private collegeSHAFSTON- that was shut down by QNC and we students have had to move on and complete our courses else where but still had to get the xtra $5000 for southbank tafe n re-do a whole semester again we only had 4weeks placements to go. afta paying from $12000 -$20.000 to shafston n hardly got no refund. Union wasnt much help, n neither was the government weve been reaped off twice & we cant afford lawyers. So much for shortage of nurses australia- B warned private colleges suks and so does tafe for charging us $5000 to re-do wat we already have yet the whole course costs about $6000 to complete.

Hi! Congrats on getting in, hope its all going smoothly. Im just wondering what kind of background you came from? Do you have to be an EN or RN to apply for these external courses? Im looking at doing a Bachelor of nursing externally but am wondering what kind of things I need before i'll get in... Also which is better CDU External or UniSA external? Sorry to steal your post topic but just thought people would still be in that train of thought so posted in here. Cheers Kel

I am studying with UniSA externally. Am doing first year and so far have found the delivery to be excellent. The lecturers are accessible, as well as plenty of other student support, and I'm really enjoying the degree so far. Lizzie
