Hi everyone, to those others doing the Diploma of Nursing, did you find it overwhelming the first couple of weeks?

Last week was the first week and I feel comfortable with what I have learnt but this week we are doing basic chemistry and I am feeling overwhelmed.

I really want to do this and am just hoping that as I understand more, it will become clearer to me.

Hi, I'm also into the 2nd week, basic chemistry and yes it is all overwhelming but I think this is normal. I've been told it all falls into place at some point. Where are you doing the diploma? I'm doing it by distance through Gold Coast Tafe.

Thanks for your response. I am going through distance with Gold Coast Tafe as well.

I am really excited to be doing this course.

I too think things will all fall into place as we progress, I just don't want to find I let myself down later because I didn't remember enough in the early stages.

Feeling much better today after revising yesterday and I have nearly finished the practice assessment task and feel a lot better for having done that.

Good Luck with your studies.

Hey Girls,

Just letting you know it does all fall into place. Im also enrolled in Diploma of Nursing at GCIT. I have done previous diploma study in nutrition, anatomy and physiology, chemistry and biololgy based subjects 6 years ago, which is too long ago to do a credit transfer apparently, so am having to do it again now.

It all suddenly clicks at some point and starts coming together. My advice is get your weekly worksheets from additional rescourses, put them on the back of the toilet door, on the fridge and pantry complete with answers- you wont realise it until exam time but doing that and glimpsing at it every chance you get is SUCH a help, lowest I got was 97% when I did it 6 years ago purely because I did that from week one.

xx

Thanks Lissam, for your post. I am feeling good about it all again. When I self test myself, I realise how much I have remember and do understand.

Great idea about the worksheets I have printing them off and doing them each week, but I will start leaving them around a few places and see if that further reinforces everything.

Thanks again, and good luck with your study. Shame you have to redo yours.

I am loving it! Yes, as you can see by my original post, at times it is overwhelming but I love learning about everything so far. Nursing is something I have wanted to do for a long time and although I worry at times, that I won't make it, I am determined to get there.

Exams in a couple of weeks as well as a couple of assignments due then too so will see how I go then!
