Hi Suzy,

I think it depends on the teacher at TAFE as to what books go on the list. The book shop attached to my TAFE is called smedleys (google them) they are the book shop for 3 different TAFEs and if you find a tab named TNQI TAFE order forms, select nursing and you will get 3 slightly different nursing textbook lists. Perhaps your TAFE has it's own book shop with a list on the web too.

Compare prices with a website called the book depository. It is in the UK but if you carefully choose your books, they can work out upto half the cost. Do be careful though as some texts need to be the Australian edition, some of which the book depository stocks.

It is all very exciting, I start my course on the 26th July, how about you?

Thanks for that info - I'll check them out. Was able anatomy and phys book via gumtree at a good price so will check out other books. I've been told that textbook exchange is a good site too for second hand books.

The course starts August, cant wait!

Hi Suzy I had to order my books through Archives bookstore, I think they are in Claremont, or they could be ordered through Curtin university bookstore.

I would try going to the nursing department at your Tafe and see if anyone is selling thier textbooks secondhand and EBAY had some of the books I needed.

I can post the booklist we had but it might be different at your Tafe, let me know if you want it.

Hi PJ

Thanks for that info. I checked out QLD booklists, but it is prob different to a WA TAFE, so if you could please post your booklist I would greatly appreciate that . Great idea bout sussing out the dept for second hand books.

Did you order a nurses kit through your booklist or did you check out an online medical supplier?

Cheers

Did you get in Suzy?

I find out on friday hopefully. I have a heap of textbooks here from when my sister trained so she's passed all hers onto me. Not sure if they have changed since then though.

Suzy

I just stumbled across this post as I too am searching for textbooks for Dip of EN at Challenger TAFE. I am a bit frustrated that we don't receive the book list until the first day of the course. I would have appreciated the opportunity to try and source 2nd hand books too.

I would love to have a chat to you about your experience at Challenger TAFE if you have a minute. I assume that you have just got 6 months to go now?

Would love to make contact if possible - as I don't know anyone else who has done this course through Challenger. I start in less than 2 weeks now - AAHHH! :)

Regards
Rebecca
