I have just completed my theory for the cert III in aged care and am waiting for my assesor to organise my work placement..
I was wondering if anyone would know how i could arrange work placement myself instead of waiting for my assesor as i am really keen to start work asap.

Kris ! Just ring around your area, explain that you are looking for work placement not saying anything about your assessor plan. Good Luck

Hi everyone my name is Toni and im new to the group here. Like most of you im also new to doing my cert 3 in aged care. I am studying from home via open learning through TAFE S.A. I am wondering if there is anyone else here who is new like me and have only been doing their course for a few weeks. I am currently doing my third assignment on participate in the work environment and hope to be able to find others in country S.A or others who would like to study buddy over the net or have a small study group if they live close by.

I just completed the 6 mth 3 days a week course in Aged Care Cert III and I believe it is much more comprehensive than the fast track courses, it also includes 20 days placement and you really dont know whether you are going to like it until you do your placement especially in high care

Hi all, at age 61 I completed my 18 week - 3 days a week Cert.III in Aged Care course, and to my excitement already found work before the course was completed. My only regret is that I did not have this ambition much earlier in my life, then I could have gone the full way and become an EN. I am having a ball and absolutely love what I am doing, so good luck to everybody with their studies.

hi yous started cer 3 having problem with first question kneed to wright 500 words can some one help me out please

Provide Support to an Older Person
20445/01

1. Look at and analyse all the tasks that you would undertake in the course of your
working day to meet the holistic needs of a person and outline in detail how you would
schedule these activities in a report of approximately 500 words.
Your report must cover:
b sequence of tasks you will perform detailing what needs these will support
b what direct and indirect support you will offer
b immediate and long term needs you will need to support
b what administrative tasks you must perform and why in the day
b what other peers are involved, their role, and contribution
b what policies and procedures you need to follow with to undertake these tasks
b What are three sources of information that you can consult to find out about a person’s
needs?
b What behaviour is demonstrated when a person being supported does not have their
needs adequately met?

p[lease helpi kneed 500 words

Hi everyone, does anyone have any experience with Hillcroft Vocational Training? They offer the Cert 3 fulltime over 12 wks on campus. Also, how does this fast paced course compare with other courses of longer duration?
Thank you
Sue

Hi kristy93,

I have worked as A Personal Carer for 5 yrs and I am a qualified Trainer/assessor with TAA40104. I will be pleased to help and I can see there are individuals in this forum will to help. you can email me or post your worries here and I will do my best to help you. In Provide support responsive to the specific nature of dementia CHCAC319A or CHCAC416A, you will mainly cover the following areas of competency

# Provide support to those affected by dementia
# Use communication strategies which take account of the progressive and variable nature of dementia
# Provide appropriate activities to maintain dignity, skills and health of client at optimum level
# Implement strategies which minimize the impact of behaviours of concern and lastly
# Implement self care strategies

It appears overwhelming and almost intimidating but on a closer look, it is a lot easier than you think.

Good luck kristy93

im in year 11 and have already started my cert 111 in aged care. Im onto my second module, to do with dementia. im finding it all a little overwhelming, for i have no one in the aged care carer i know and can talk to. but never the less im completely enjoying it.

there is two questions im just wondering if any one could help me with is;

how can i as a care worker assist in the development of strategies to limit the impact of dementia on the clients quality of life?

and

what sources could i access for information on a clients likes and dislikes

if anyone could help it would be appreciated alot (:

Hi everyone, I have read all the posts and found this forum very interesting. It is also great to see that there are still people out there that are willing to help others.

I have started my course a couple of days ago online. I and am doing Cert III aged care and Cert III Home and community care together.

So far all I have done is read through some of the course material there seems to be quite a lot. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that is taking these courses and lives in the Windsor Richmond area as it would be good to have someone else to study with.
