Thanks for posting this Possum....

What a great idea from the government! I understand there's been and continues to be such a skills shortage in the aged care and nursing sector in general and this has been the case for a very long time.

I'm coming over to Australia at the end of the year to embark on a massive career change from senior manager in an international business to start a Diploma of Nursing course with the view to completing a Bachelor of Nursing. Shame..... as a non resident and international student I'm going to have to miss out of on the $$$$'s the government are offering as a sweetener to trainees.

Owing to the fact that aged care workers are highly in demand and there are not enough of them, it will be interesting to see what kind of people decide to enter a course of study in the sector, and whether they are actually doing so for their own person interest and satisfaction of working in this area or whether the $$$$'s push them into it. Thoughts anyone?

James

moonbeam, well I am sure you will love moving to Australia. Our population is ageing and I am sure there will always be people needing Aged Care Workers or PCA.

I am not sure the $$ per hour is very good but I think if you have decided on this path then sometimes what you get out of personal satisfaction ding something you love then for me personally that is a good thing.

Good luck and keep us updated
