Hi guys,

Im currently studying a cert 3 in aged care.. and im really struggling.  I have a real problem with writing things down and under standing them when im not talking with a teacner or out loud. My dream is do my bachelor of nursing but I dont know how ill cope. I was just wondering if any one can give me any good study tips that will help me understand things a bit better and help me pass my course and not feel like an idiot every time I read my textbook!

Thanks!

Hi Suzie,

My advice is to write down everything your having trouble understanding and asking your teacher for help the next time your in class. You could even write more notes once he/she has answered the questions to help you remember it easier :)

I need some help with Certificate III in Aged Careassessment. Has anybody completed "CHCAC319A  Provide Support To People Living With Dementia" Assessment?

Hi kacharya, I have completed that module for the certificate 3 in aged care. What exactly are you having trouble with?

If I don't understand something or just even wanting to know if this or that happens, I ask the teacher questions until I understand what is being taught.

Don't worry about anyone else thinking that you are asking 'stupid questions', because if you don't understand the content, then how will you pass your assessments? Sometimes you have to think about yourself on this one.

An advantage to asking questions, is that you may answer someone else's question who may not feel up to asking questions in class.

So just keep asking questions until you get it, or alternatively, you may catch your teacher or email your teacher about not understanding the content.

Hope this helps, hang in there and don't give up.

Hi Moggs

what state are you in? And where did you find cert 3 for 18weeks, everything I'm looking at takes 12mths..

Im in Sydney, I'm considering doing this at take next year. If I could find somewhere that does this in 18weeks be fantastic. I've worked as carer for years, not in workforce at present as I've taken on caring for both my parents over the past years, nursed dad till his passing at home, now I've got mum whos 92 with a list of issues, blind been one. I've an extensive resume, but must get the qualification if I want work in the future, it wasn't mandatory to have cert 111 for care when I left work force in 07, it was coming in however. I haven't had time for study, anything really caring for 2 very frail sick old people, now it's just mum, it's very time consuming, but in need the qualification. So 18weeks is heaps better than 12 maths, thanks..

Hi guys,

I'm new to aged care, and have just signed up to do cert 111 and 1V.  I have done a fair bit of research and as I am eligible for government funding for both, wondered why the HUGE difference in cost and time frame. Be very careful who you sign up with and make sure you are getting everything you're paying for.

I nearly signed up with a recruitment agency offering a 9 week course with two weeks placement for $50...  The government is cracking down on quickie courses that don't cover everything properly, and people are losing their certificates :(  Just be aware :)

Totally agree with above. Don't do a fast track course. Ask how much assessment there is. Some courses you  may do hundreds of questions others just 20 per unit.
