What do you use Toilet paper,Jenny Wipes/Adult wipes or Multi Purposes towels? Lets talk about what do you use at your Nursing Home on a daily basic to clean bottoms. It would be interesting what different Nursing Homes use to wipe and clean their residents with. At my work place we start off with toilet paper after Multi purposes towels and finish off with Jenny Wipes. What do you use? or do you have any suggestions?

Aged Care Staff ! It has been a good while since I did not hear from anyone else. What do you use to clean private parts (front and bottom) in your working place? I love to hear any suggestion.

Toilet roll as it is cost effective. Jenny wipes are only used on certain residents (usually pallitive). I personally love them BUT remember must be cost effective lol

For the most part we use toilet paper. If needed we sometimes use a tiny bit of sorbolene cream on the toilet paper. It helps clean up the bottoms nicely and is more cost effective than the wipes and not so scatchy. Some residents have wipes in their room, however we try not to use them too much.

toilet paper for 'normal' bums and continent bowel motions.

multi purpose towels, damp with shaving cream for incontinent or difficult cases (black poo and hairy bums!!) sorbeline is banned from my work, and they don't supply soap bars for hygiene reasons, shampoo is supplied but is really harsh and not for constant use or for comprimised skin.

(of course, there is also the shower should it be a poo-nami!)

In my new facility I have mentioned shaving cream when an explosive bowel movement that has gone everywhere.. Use of Shaving cream has been discouraged .. When you say sorbolene cream has been banned why.. I am speaking about normal body dryness use.. Some of my residents prefer to use their own bar soap or gel wash.. A liquid soap dispenser is on hand by the shower along with a moisturising cream.. Sudocrem is used frequently along with paw paw cream.. Thankfully jeny wipes are avalable for use..

I'm not working in aged care as yet, but where I did my work placement, we used jennywipes for incontinent clients and just normal toilet paper when they were continent.
We went through a lot of jennywipes though, it must be a huge expense for the facility...

If the resident wears a pad we scoop away as much as possible with the pad before we remove it, if there still is a lot left we try toilet paper, then wipes, if still soiled we get a bowl of warm water + face washers to clean up bottom, if problem is huge there is only one option left: the good old shower.
