Hi I'm only 16 years old and currently studying Certificate III in Aged Care, I am currently stuck on my assignment. This is the situation:

You are unsure how to admit a new resident. How would you manage this?

also,

what could some possible reasons for the difference be in today's medication from the previous days? what will you do?

Please Help me.

I would really appreciate it.

thank you so much.

Hi, just a few suggestions to get you started.

Q1. Seek clarification of admission from a team leader, RN or duty nurse. Check the facilities procedure manual for clarification. Don't attempt admission if unsure of the process, find someone who can.

Q2. The doctor has visited and ceased/increased medication. An error may have occurred during packaging of the medication by the pharmacist. Some medications may not be required to be administered daily.

If the drug order in the residents chart doesn't match the drugs available for that day do not give the medication. Seek clarification. Believe it or not this does occur. Medications usually have to be signed for in the chart by the person administering them. By doing this you have accepted responsibility for the medication administration. Always make sure what your signing for is what you are giving.

Cheers
