Well. This is the million dollar question. There are SO many great things and rewards from nursing our older citizens.
However, it is the management of the facilities that gives this job grief. I mean to say, we recently had a change of manager
and with that, a Huge shake up without consult to staff. There is a lot of upset.
Now back to the "HOW do I like working in Aged Care?'. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Each and every day I give something of
myself and my experience that touches many older lives. They deserve to have the utmost respect, treatment and dignity and
with the workloads and so on, there is so much we could do if only there was more staff. I am a dedicated RN to the care of
of the Aged. I tried the hospital; I was 'born' to look after our older more vulnerable and with that be honoured to in cases, assist
them to die with dignity. Do I like my work> Darn straight I do. The rewards are endless and the smiles and acknowledgements
I receive, makes it SO worthwhile. I had a 95 yo say to me today, "I am glad you are here. You really care and my life is the better
for it". :-)
