Hello,

I am currently a student nurse and wondering about how I will follow my path to be a midwife. Once I am an RN, what are the ways within the hospital to become a midwife? Do I have to be employed asa midwife in order to complete further study ( post grad in mid)? Or can I wait a year and then commence study at a uni and do a post grad without being employed as a midwife, but as a nurse? I am trying to understand the processes. Any assistance would be well received :-))

Hello 3littleones (love your name..... I had 4 :) :) )

I think you can either go straight into a Midwifery Course at Uni from your current degree OR, consolidate your current degree by doing your year post grad, then go into Mid at Uni. I am sure that if you make enquiries as to working in a Maternity Unit during your post grad year the staff will give you the information and support you are after....

Good Luck...
