Consultation: Competency to Practise
Nurses Board of Victoria
The Board is seeking input from the nursing and midwifery community, education providers, health industry and other interested parties on the operation of section 18(4) and 34(4) of the Health Professions Registration Act 2005.
The current provisions of the Act specify that a nurse or midwife who has not practised for 2 years or more must provide details of their training or proposed training to the NBV to ensure their competence to practise.
The NBV will consider all submissions made in response to the Consultation Paper in determining whether it will make a submission to the Minister for Health seeking a variation to the 2 year "competency to practise provisions" through amendment to the regulations under the Act.
Public comments and submissions must be received by Friday 3 August 2007.
Submissions should be addressed to: Louise Milne-Roch Chief Executive Officer Nurses Board of Victoria, GPO Box 4932, Melbourne, Vic, 3000 and marked 'Competency to Practise Requirements' or email to submissions@nbv.org.au.
