New President for peak professional nursing organisation

Dr Stephanie Fox-Young FRCNA has been elected President of Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA), at the meeting of the newly elected Board of Directors, on 14 May 2007 in Canberra, ACT.
Dr Fox-Young has been a member of the College for over 20 years and has extensive experience in Australian healthcare and education industries in the Australian Capital Territory and in Queensland.
“It is a great honour to have been elected President of RCNA. I will be working hard during the next two years to promote the College and raise the awareness of nursing and health policy issues,” said Dr Fox-Young.
Executive Director of RCNA, Rosemary Bryant FRCNA said “With Stephanie’s widespread background in research and education leadership she is well placed to lead the Board of Directors.”
Dr Fox-Young is employed part time as a Research Fellow with the University of Queensland School of Nursing & Midwifery and also works as a private consultant on a range of projects for State and National organisations. She completed her PhD on women’s decision making in menopause at the Queensland University of Technology.
Recently she completed a national project for the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council to develop a national framework for decision making by nurses and midwives and is currently recruiting participants in an online longitudinal research study of the Australian, New Zealand and United Kingdom nursing and midwifery workforce, the Nurses and Midwives e-Cohort.
