Help! I'm trying to decide where to study my EN's. I've looked at Gold Coast Tafe, Careers Australia & Mater Education (taught in the education building in amongst their hospitals) I am leaning towards Mater Education and applications close in 7 days so could anyone PLEASE give me some advice!! I am about to finish my Cert III in Aged Care & Home & Community Care & want to continue to become an EN. THANKS!

I did my EN's through Gold Coast TAFE and am in the graduate program at Sunnybank Hospital.  I was talking to a patient a couple of weeks ago, and she did her EN's through the Mater program in 2012 and has been unable to find work since.  I know at Sunnybank - the nurse educator said they really only look at students who have studied through TAFE because they do the advanced IV subject.

Hope this helps

Hi Lainey, I do not know what you mean by this. I have compared Holmesglen tafe and mater education for the diploma of nursing and both offer the same medications unit which is health 519C intravenous medications. Careers Australia and other institutes offer the same medication unit. So looking at the comparisons I don't know what you mean by tafe offers advanced IV unit? All the diploma of nursing courses which I have looked into, be it tafe or RTO have the same named unit.

Yeah I don't know either Sandyko - this is what the nurse educator told me - they prefer Gold Coast TAFE students.  This is over the other TAFE's in the Brisbane area also.  But as I said if you're comparing Gold Coast TAFE to Mater Education - I would steer to TAFE.
