Hi to all those EEN's considering a move anywhere south of Sydney to the Illawarra area or Wollongong Hospitals group,,Do Not Do It! I moved here from another State of Australia a few months ago after applying for a Government job with NSW Health, bought a house, spent a fortune only to find out,,, This area, (Public and Private Hospitals) DO NOT utilise their Endorsed Enrolled Nurses at all! You are not allowed to give out any medication at all,, and are treated like dirt here. They do not have Patient Allocation model of nursing here, it is mainly Task Orientated,, so the poor EEN runs around doing all the obs and BSLs and beds and pans and CLEANING and Bagging up all the linen, while the RN's sit on their bums!!! Lovely! I don't know how they can do this to us as we also must prove we are competent in our role each year to facilitate having a nursing licence,, and working here you can not prove this and lose your skills in the process. My advice is don't come anywhere near Wollongong area at all.
