Hi All,

I too am a little worried about this test, I thought it was only for people with English as a second language. But by the looks of things I am wrong. I found this site that I thought might help.

Any info on the test would be greatly appreciated. :-)

It's really sad how poor the level of English is in Australian hospitals.  It leaves huge room for error, especially since communication is vital in nursing.  I am certain many people cheat in these tests (as anyone will know who has ever done placement or worked in a hospital), half the battle is trying to figure out what some of the staff are saying.  How low Australian standards have become from a once brilliant health care system.

All those people publishing their email addresses, if you don't want to become a spam victim use the PM (Private Message) function.

I ve done the test two weeks ago and they are a lot of practice test on the Internet especially from UK. Also NAPLAN practice test for year 7 and 9 is helpful. The test is not hard and I have left school 17 years ago.

Hi all I'm new to this site.  Long story short I finished high school in 1996, got into uni to do div 1, didn't end up going.  I am wanting to enrol for div 2, I'm needing some help/advice in regards to studying for the numeracy and literacy test which I'm going for in a couple of weeks?  Any advice on what study I should do as preparation for the test.

I'm quite nervous as I want to pass and finally full fill my dream of starting my dream career.

If anyone could help me out that would be great my email is msktb@hotmail.com  thanks heaps : )

Hi Everyone,i have the test coming up for Enrolled nursing here in Tassie.

I am 45 years old and needing as much help as I can get..Dannii i would love if you could send me the notes as well.

This is a career change for me as im recovering from Cancer which has been an eye opener for me, i now want to give back.

being in hospital i talked to a number of nurses, about my desire to become a nurse but thought i was too old to do it, i took it as a sign that the nurses were all mature aged when they started, i took that as a sign lol.

I would appreciate any help anyone can offer me as im so nervous about this test..

Regards Carolyn

STOP PANICKING, EVERYONE!

As long as you can speak and write English, and do basic maths you will be FINE.The test is there to weed out people who cannot speak English or do basic maths.

Being a nurse you will have to give medications. The questions on the test reflect some of the maths you will need to do as a nurse.

Example: Joanne requires 60mg of Panadol. Panadol comes in tablets of 20mg. How many tablets would you give Joanne? 60 divided by 20 = 3 tablets.

VERY easy. Don't stress.

I came out of the test with 40/40 for English and 28/30 for maths, and I am CRAP at maths :)

I freaked out about the test and studied like crazy. But when I did the test, I found that it was really easy. Very basic maths and english.  I'm crap at maths and I got 30/40 and I got 36/40 for the english.  If you need some help with the maths side of things, check out mathsisfun.com
Good luck! :0)

Hi everyone!

Its good to read the last 2 comments that the test isn't too hard. Does anyone know if the test is the same Australia wide, or is Qld different to NSW etc? Also would I need to learn fractions, long division etc? Or just basic like in the example in the 2nd to last post?
