I have accepted an offer of Div 1 at the University of Ballarat. I attended the open day today and it appeared quite impressive superficially - great class rooms and ward set ups etc. However, I would like to hear from any recent graduates that may have anything further they think that would be worth knowing eg. how was your degree received in as for getting employment? I can hardly wait to start my new venture into the amazing world of nursing today was just one small exciting step forward!

Hi Jill,
I wish I could say that I was at Ballarat recently but it has been over ten years - but lets not go there. I moved to Ballarat to do my course and had a great three years. Big enough to have the resources but small enough to provide genuine support. I had no trouble with graduate year employment - in fact I went back to Melb for my grad year. I think you'll have a great time. Enjoy!

Been lurking here for a while but haven't posted as yet. Just wanted to say that I have also accepted an offer for Div 1 at UB for next year.........so excited.

Seems we will be classmates next year.

Thx Fran for letting me know about your experience with University of Ballarat it seems to match up with my visit there the other week. I've definitely decided to go now despite the long commute! - guess I'll get use to it! I think there will be times though that I will take advantage of their short term accom. Glad to hear that things worked well for your grad year as well and thx for taking the time to post it was really pleasing to see it. Hope you're enjoying your career! :)

Hi Angela,

I'm so GLAD that you have take the time to reply especially as you say you're starting there and we'll be class mates. I've just finished a 'Bridging into Nursing course at tafe last semester and there were 5 of us that applied and we all got accepted. Would love to catch up with you - do you live in Ballarat or like me will be facing a commute? Anyway please feel welcome to email me anytime on day61break@gmail.com and we could get to know each other I could also introduce you to my friends who will also be starting! Hope to hear from you soon Angela. All that is left to say is roll on 2011 then we'll both be student nurses - that sounds so awesome!!

Jill :)
