Hi - I've worked as an EN for nigh on 30 years in many different areas, but have been out of the health industry for the last 8 years. Now I'm hankering to return to it but unfortunately let my registration expire last year due to not using it. I'm wondering if I could work as a Nursing Assistant somehow without having to complete the 18 months training first. Has anyone done this?  Cheers and thanks.  Rose

Just to clarify is it 18 months or 18 weeks?
AIN or nursing assistant?

Hi Seraphim - it's AIN - and 18 months training if a rookie, which I'm obviously not having nursed for a very long time but just not up to date with the latest

It seems most states that it will be 1 semester (about 6months). However, the course will be obsolete if you fail to complete the course within 18 months.

Mind if you link me to the site where you get the information from?

Anyway, you will need to contact your ex-colleagues and managers to see if they are willing to employ you. You can also try age care as a carer. The burn out rate is pretty high though.
