Hi Guys,

I am just wondering if there is any ''dress code'' as such for male nurses in regards to piercings.

Would it be accepted for a male nurse to have ONE stud in each ear lobe and a stud in the side of the lip? Or are piercings not allowed when you're a nurse?

Thanks,

It depends on the facility usually one pair of studs are fine but other facial piercings either need to be removed or covered as its an infection control issue aswell as other jewellry (flat wedding band usually permitted ) ,nail polish and false nails as "germs" can colonize in these places and you risk transmitting to other patients , staff etc. Also any jewellry falling out into patients wounds etc.

As a nurse you also need to remember you have to look clean, professional and "approachable"

Hope this helps
