I am wanting to complete the Masters of Nursing Science and Melbourne Uni and want to hear from someone who has completed the 2yr program recently.

I am 36 with two young children and want to know how hefty the time commitments are? I have four years study in Homeopathy with equivalent medical science study behind me, is this course a difficult one? Or is it only difficult if you come from a different discipline and are learning a new language?

Also, does the Masters course put you in a better position for employment and advancement?

Thanks anyone and everyone giving time out to help

Hi,

I have applied for the MNSc at Melbourne. I went to the open day recently and it was made pretty clear that there will be long days and hard work for the whole 2 years because it is effectively giving you the same skills as a 3 year bachelor degree.

I am pretty sure the degree is still in its first year so you will not find anybody who has completed it, but from speaking to the current students at the open day they seemed pretty happy with the course and their career prospects.

Due to the shorter duration the masters does not have time to teach medical science language from the ground up and students are assumed to have some prior knowledge. For those who do not (like me) M.U. provide an online 6 week Human Anatomy course to bridge that gap. I have my last exam for the course this week and would not describe the work as hard, but it has been hard trying to learn this 'new language' whilst juggling it with a full time job & young kids

Good luck if you apply and hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Ian.
