Hi there, My family and I are moving to SA from Queensland at the end of the year (or should I say moving back, as I grew up in SA) and I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of the Nurses Award in SA. Either a link to a website with the information or a phone number would be handy. I already have a job lined up for when we move, but have no idea of pay and conditions over there. Cheers.

Hi RaPhil,

there is a pretty good site by the Office of the Chief Nurse in SA at

You will find links to the relevant awards and legislation from there at

Welcome back to SA. The links there are the EB Agreement for the public sector, if you are working in the private sector you will need to get a copy of the EB agreement directly from that organisation as they are negotiated individually.

cheers

Hi GuysI am wondering if any one can explain the logic (if there is any!!)behind the concept of recruitment/ retention allowances for rural areas ceasing after five yrs?How can something that builds up to a maximum amount over 5 yrs then suddenly stops be considered "retaining"??Morgan

I don't understand the logic behind it either nursemorgan, but I previously worked in the banking industry and there was a similar case there. If transferred from the city to the country, they would subsidise your rent for a period of time until you were considered 'local'. Once considered 'local' all subsidies stop. My thinking is that they are hoping if you have married a local, you are not going to move when they cut your allowances. Obviously it doesn't always work though.
