I was looking at doing it but I would have to fly up to the gold coast for the resi schools. I found a part time one near me, but it was a hard decision though

Hi,

I am startng the  EN online with GCIT this january. and am totally excted and abit concerned. they recommend 3 days study a week and i work 3 days so it is going to be a busy time for me.

I live in Grafton NSW and have done years of AIN work.

Good luck with the course you have chosen NellyNurse.

Hi Sara, I know the hours of study worry me a little too, I have 4 children and a part-time job which is 3 days, although I know she will let me cut down to 2 days with extra hours on that day so I will only lose 2 hours a week, if she desperately needs me I can work from home.

Hi Sara, you have done some AIN work. I rang up a couple of nursing agencies in Melbourne and they said that student nurses after they finish their first placement of their uni degree can be employed casually by the agency. The first placement is in aged care. I am thinking of picking up some work when I get to second year(go to get through the first year and am nervous but looking forward to the study). I just wanted to ask what your thoughts were working as an AIN. What are the responsibilities of an AIN position and are the shifts flexible including having some weekend work. Is there work in hospitals? Did you find it challenging or was it easy once you gained experience?

Hi Sara, Maybe call GCIT in the morning to find out, did you apply for VETFEE help? You wouldn't have to pay anything until you are earning I believe over $50,000 a year and a percentage gets taken out of your wages. Ring up and discuss with Germaine she should be able to help, she takes care of the nursing enrolments. Also, see a couple of posts above this one as we now have a facebook group for Diploma of Nursing at GCIT if you would like to join.
