Hi Daniela

The reason I chose CDU is because it seems to have a better reputation for distance education.   I had heard some bad things when doing the Bachelor of Nursing through Open University (which uses UNISA).    The staff at CDU have been very helpful in answering all my questions and I always got a call back the same day when I left messages etc.     The other uni I considered was CQU which is supposedly also good for distance education but CDU try their hardest to get your clinical placements in your own state (although its not 100% guaranteed).

Hi, thanks for that. I am considering doing nursing through distant education via (open uni) unisa,  or CDU. I am hesitating because i dont have a science background at all (only social sciences) and havent studied for 12 years ! How is the course so far ? Are you part time or full time ? ( and can you switch half way). Do you think you will be disadvantaged because you are doing it distant ? Do you have to go to Darwin at all ? Thanks alot for your help. I am a little lost !

I am also starting my Bachelor of Nursing at CDU via distance in Semester 2. I just found out today so I don't know much about it yet. I am an EN so I will only have to do 2 years. I am from Melbourne and have 4 kids between 5-10, am working as a nurse and am a single mum without much support. I hope I can handle it :-o

I have done a late application for CDU - now open till 16th July, so still awaiting a reply.

@mrsmoo, I am in Sydney as well with 4 kids, though mine older than yours!

Hi Enigma.
You answered my other post. We are both in the exactly the same position.
I too am a single mum who is very unwell physically due to a very long illness, to one boy who also has additional needs.
I don't have a great support network. In fact it seems to be getting smaller and smaller by the day.
I am no longer working as I was retrenched from my job as sole Clinic Nurse at Christmas time last year. And since being accepted into CSU in NSW to do my Bachelor's, I thought that it was a waste of time and way too much stress to add to studying via DE. BUT I have to get a job, been offered so many times a postition down here to work and may have to take it.
I will be studying full time.
I would like to send you a Friend Request. It is totally up to you if you wish to accept it or not.

Redrecks I have accepted your request, thanks. I will also be studying full time. I've just received the info pack and have to enrol etc and it's all so confusing. I also apparently now have to send (again) certified copies of my EN course results, certificate and registration to get the 80 units off. Very annoying as I assumed it was already organised. Good luck to every one else who's studying at CDU too. Does anyone know when we actually have to go to Darwin?

Thanks for accepting my request.
I hope we can keep in touch as we both study to help each other along. If you like?
I would love to go to Darwin again. So nice and warm. Freezing my butt down here.
