What worked for me was positioning myself on my stomach and placing a feather pillow under the injured shoulder/collar bone. It sometimes helped to sleep on the futon mattress we have in the spare bedroom since it was firmer than our mattress  http://jonsguide.org/best-full-size-mattress-review/  With that I would sometimes dangle my arm over the side.
