For anyone who's studying either en or rn by distance, do you have to organise your own placements? And if so is that difficult to organise? I'm in NSW ands I'm considering studying with GCIT but have lots of questions!

Hi Sparkle76, im currently studying diploma through GCIT. nearly finished semester 1.The tafe organizes placements but they are very behind.locals to the gold coast all got placement(im local but wanted part time hrs for placement so had to ring myself and organize). There are a lot of students still waiting to be placed somewhere, any yes some have taken matters into their own hands and rang a aged care facility to ask if they could do placement there(which we are not suppose to).As far as other placements go,im going to assume it will be even harder,as there are less hospitals and students from unis as well trying to get in. There are quite alot of nsw students in my intake, and some have already done there first placement.Good luck

Hi Cj123, thanks for your reply. Thats put my mind at rest a bit :) just wouldn't really know where to start if I had to organise them all!

How are you finding the course so far? x

Hi Sparkle76

I am six weeks off completing my Diploma on Nursing through GCIT.  They organise the placements for you and I live in VIC and they were able to arrange the placements within 100 kms of where I live.

The course is really good and the tutors help out alot if you get stuck.

Good Luck

Nikki
