Hi all,

I completed my Diploma of nursing through GCIT (online) and am currently an EN (grad position) and am going to ddo my RN's online as well. But am having trouble deciding which uni. I am especially concerned about prac hours and quality of the course. Any out there currently doing or completed their RN's through Uni Sa or CSU. CSU seems to have better course content but the prac hours are horrendous. Plus it only offers the course part-time for distance ed so it would take me 4 years as opposed to 2 years full time through Uni Sa. I cannot find any info about prac hours for Uni SA.

 Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards,

Hi, I will give answers to your question and perhaps you could also help me with my question. I am currently studying the first year of a bachelor of nursing at uni sa via distance ed and I think it is very well organized. The positives are that you only do about 3 subjects per semester where I think CSU has 4. As you already have a diploma, your first year would be credited. In regards to the practicals, there are two lots of 4 week pracs in second year and you need to complete two lots of 8 week pracs in third year. You can choose to study part time or full time through distance ed. There are also only a couple of workshops a year to attend at the uni of SA.

My question is that I was thinking of changing to gcit online diploma of nursing next year but am not sure. I would be interested to know how you found the course. I dont mind studying but loathe writing essays which forms part of the uni degree. What kind of assessment tasks do you have with gcit, is it manageable and easy to complete. Is enrolled nursing worthwhile and are there jobs out there for enrolled nurses. I am a mature age student living in Melbourne.

There is also Charles Darwin Uni CDU and CQU uni that offer distance.

CQU are good re placements in your area.
