Hi,

I am hoping someone may be able to help me answer this! I am currently studing a Bachelor of Nursing and am looking at gaining work as an EN at some stage during my studies at uni. Is it possible to work as an EN once you hit a certain part of your degree or is a PCA/AIN the only option?

Thanks! :)

I checked with the registration board last year and they said it will depend on the UNI you go to, if they have an exit point in their Bachelor of Nursing then you can register as an EN once you reach the exit point which i think is ussually about end of econd year, mid 3rd year. However not all uni's have it, i'm currently studying at uni south australia and unfortunately they don't offer it. So i'm just working as a med comp PCA/AIN while i'm studying (Have just started my final year).

Many universities offer a joint TAFE program that lasts for 6-8weeks over the summer semester at the end of your second year, which will give you the ability to register and work as an EEN during your final year of uni (it is a program that you have to pay up front for, usually about $650). In QLD it's called "Nursing reverse articulation EEN Program". So I suggest calling someone at the uni to ask if they have this course or a similar course at all.

yeah when I studied at UNI SA this wasnt an option, in 2nd year I know a few people worked in age care as AIN's but not EN's which is better than nothing if you want employment in the health field.
