Hi, my name is Kelly, I'm 35 and started my course in Aged Care Cert III today. To say I am excited to be finally beginning my long term career goal of nursing is an understatement. I've been a SAHM for 14 yrs and am ready to move into the next phase of my life.

Hi my names Sandy.I live on the Northern Rivers.I have just started studying Aged care cert 3 at Tafe .I tried to do distant education but found it too hard.I am finding studying at tafe a lot easier because it is face to face and you are able to ask questions on things you are not to sure on.Being an older student the brain takes a bit to get going again lol.I was absolutely stoked to find this website,as I feel I am going to need a lot of help, but I suppose I am a lot luckier than some as I am already working at an Aged care home.Hope to hear more from you all.

Hi my name is Mona, 45 years old living in Country NSW.

I have done 1 month of my 6 month course Cert III in aged care. I can't believe the amount of content in this course and the assignments are massive. We have to do 140 hours placement as well and can start anytime now(I am just waiting for my police check to come back). We have completed 3 modules and almost completed the 4th. I have already handed in my first assignment and next 2 due this week.

I come from a customer service and admin background with no prior health industry experience, I am really enjoying it though. I am amazed though at some of the stuff we are learning and it certainly makes me feel abit better about my own impending old age care.

Hi all. My name is Jenni and I have been in aged care for 1 year now. I completed my cert 3 in july but was working at my current place of employment in both the laundry and at the front desk. I am really enjoying my work and want to one day complete my een and specialise in aged care.

Hey everyone,

I'm an RN1 in Aged Care, been working at my nursing home for 3 years, I've been a nurse for 10 years now.

I love my job and I want to work my way up the ranks in AC and hopefully be managing a facility in 5 years when all 3 of my kids are in primary school.

Nice to meet you all.

xoxo

Hi everyone

Im about to start my cert.3 in aged care this July. I found this forum and I was really excited that there was somewhere to discuss Q&As as I havent done any form of study for years and it would be great to come on here for help and also hopefully help others. I see though the majority of posts are from a while back and I do hope others will join up . All the best to everyone .

hi everyone , im sil..
im halfway through a dual cert 11 in aged care and cert 111 in home and community care certificate course,
im 45 and a mum of three , oldest 26, mid child 21 with an intellectual disability and my youngest is not long 9..
i did not complete my schooling so it was rather daunting to start this course, so much to learn in 12 weeks,
but im doing surprisingly well, and loving it.
our prac is coming up soon im a bit nervous but also excited about it.
my course in victoria is run by tracy,s employment people, my job centre,
i look foward to a career in aged care and hope to one day open my own centre run as a client based centre not a profit based centre, as it should be, but thats a while off yet.
good luck to all those who are currently doing their certificates..

Hi everyone, my name is Michelle and I am an EEN working in Aged Care. I gained my Diploma through Tafe in Townsville. Love reading the posts and seeing issues through other nurses eyes.

Hi everyone, New to this forum today. I've just scored myself a traineeship in aged care. I'm very excited as its my first step in my goal of becoming a nurse. At the same time very nervous, I'm 30 years old with 2 kids and its been a very long time since I have done any kind of study. Looking forward to getting to know you all and hopefully picking some of your brains when it comes to my assignments. Good luck to all those currently studying and hope you are all enjoying it!

love it
