Hi Miz,

What university are you at? If you are at any of the following universities, this information may be of some help:

Bond University

Griffith University

James Cook University

University of Queensland

In WA, in the past I have been involved with SPINRPHEX (Student and Practitioners Interested In Rural Practice, Health, Education, ETC). They are a university group, comprised on nursing and medical students who are interested in working in rural and remote areas once they have finished their degrees.

In Queensland the groups are called:

BUSHFIRE (Bond University)

HOPE4HEALTH (Griffith University)

RHINO (James Cook University)

TROHPIQ (University of QLD)

If you contact these groups, they should be able to help you. Even if you are not at one of these universities, I still encourage you to contact them. Here in WA, I know that they would be more than happy to help out someone who wants to get into rural / remote health as this is their main objective.

If you go to the following website, you will find contact details:

www.nrhsn.org.au

Click on rural health clubs, and then your state.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Aged Care Queensland Inc has produced a CD ROM about mentoring and e-mentoring. Not sure if this is applicable or not to you.

Cheers
