Hi, Last year I did Certificate IV Allied Health Assistance, I am now thinking of doing the Diploma of Nursing.
I thought I would get credit for anatomy & physiology and medical terminology in the Diploma, but when I
saw the list of subjects they aren't there. Does anyone know if you study these topics in the course, or are
you supposed to have this knowledge before you start? (I would have thought these subjects would be
very important for nursing) Thanks

Hey Agedcarer,

I don't think you would get a credit for your anatomy & physiology or your medical terminology. For your Certificate IV course you presumably studied HLTAP301A for your A & P, for the Diploma it is HLTAP401A which is a slightly higher level. For your medical terminology you studied BSBMED201A, for the Diploma it is HLTAN501A, again a slightly higher level.

Prove me wrong please, I'd hate to see you waste your cash restudying what you already know, which is what you will be doing if you don't get a credit..

cheers

Hi 911insidejob, thankyou very much for that info - I see they are called different names, so A & P is "Confirm physical health status" and medical terminology goes under "Analyse Health Information". Yes I see you are right, I would not be entitled to credits, but at least I have some knowledge of the subjects. How did you find it, is it challenging?

Hey Agedcarer,

Anatomy & Physiology was quite full on however near the end every fell into place and made sense. The examination at the end was a lot less in depth than what we had been taught so I had no problems and neither should you as you have a good grounding in the subject.

Good luck!

cheers,
