hi 

i have been working in aged care as a PCA for 3 years. my EN registration came out 3 weeks ago and i am finding it difficult to get a job. i have applied for jobs online and i even went to drop my resumes at the facilities but still no luck. i have got endless letters of regrets. they keep on telling me that they cant take me in because i don't have +6 months experience. i cant do grad year because i am starting my div 1 in July this year. 

i was just wondering if anyone could offer me advice on how to get a job as an EN without experience.

Hi Charity

You have an advantage in that you have been working as a PCA for the last 3 years.  Being a new EN, you will need to network.  Use the facilities where you did your placements.  Maybe, start on their bank to get experience, join an Agency, use your Clinical Teachers as referees.  Ask your current employer, for any opportunities as a Team Leader EN.  Go to all the local hospitals in your area, and ask to join the hospital bank.  Look out for new grad positions offered online, but you may not want to start all over again, unless it is in an area that you haven't had much contact with.  Like mental health, or perioperative, day surgery, or theatre.

Hi, I know its hard but offer to do some volunteer work, many doors open with voluntary work!  Good Luck.

Hello

thank you for tying responses. I went door to door dropping my resumes last week and I am so glad I got a job today. I start my first shift tomorrow morning. I can't believe it since I don't have experience at all Lol.
