Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum. I have just recently started (28/3/2012) my EN Course through Shellharbour Tafe, and I was wondering if anyone out there could help me with one of my questions regarding accreditation. I have never worked within the Healthcare Industry so I'm unfamiliar as to how the accreditation process works. My questions is What role do you play in the accreditation process? If someone could help me out and explain the process from the nurses prespective that would be great. I've looked on the ACHS website but I'm having trouble finding the information. All feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks inadvance :)

Darren

Welcome Kel0690

Accreditation for nurses on the floor is not as complicated as it might sound. You will need to know about things like where are policy and procedure manuals, do you follow them? How do you stay current in your role, are you provided with education? Do you know about the quality activities that are going on? How do you contribute to quality improvements - can you make suggestions and do they get followed up? How do you stay current with information on the workplace - notice boards, memos etc. Do you have access to and use safety equipment?

That should get you started, there are dozens of other similar examples others may want to contribute.
