Hi

Hoping others can help me....:) Next year l wish to enrol in a Diploma in Nursing and need some advice about Tafe & RDO who offer this course.

At present l am a carer so l will need to attend part time plus will be living around the Carrum Downs area in Vic and do not want to travel more than 40 minutes to school.

The institutions l am interested in are:

Navitas Health Skills

Australian catholic Uni

Chisholm

Maybe l have missed one in my research that someone could suggest for me to attend.

So if anyone can help me pls send me some details.

Thanks Ros

Have you thought of doing it online via distance education? Just a thought :)

Hi there,

Have you looked into any tafe's around your area that are running the EN course? I'm completing my EN course through tafe, however I live in NSW.

HI

Yes the list of providers are either RTO's, Uni's or Tafes...I'm thinking l will visit each provider and look at the facilities and see if they are organised.

Thanks for the suggestion though..

Definitely check them all out face to face and ask questions. (If you can glimpse at some student presence even better.)
If you legitimately want to study a diploma of nursing, go through the process of the VET Assess test, the applications, interviews etc. Definitely look at the timetables and key dates (for example Navitas has 3 long terms in the year rather than 2 semesters. Those terms don't easily line up with other school terms and can be a bit challenging if you have school kids)
Studying local is a very smart idea too and Chisolm did offer courses at Frankston from memory and  Holmesglen offer them at Moorrabin.
Navitas does have a Blackburn campus, but the library for it is in the city and ACU is also in the city, realistically speaking you will likely be doing a lot of travelling to get to those campuses, and placements may also cause you grief later.
The workload is pretty hectic, so less transit will help with that, and also make sure you can ask lots of questions about how supportive they can be for students who do have to do other roles, and be strait up with it to whoever needs to hear it the most (co-ordinators etc)
So yes shopping around is certainly a very good idea :)
