Hi All,

Having attended the RCNA Nursing Expo yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that on top of all the Division 1 grad programs out there, there are some available to Div 2s!

I also found out that some hospitals/public health groups are piloting similar things. I was even told by one Clinical Nurse Educator from a rural hospital that they are aiming to have at least 30% Div 2's in their workforce, especially in Acute Care, whereas originally it was mostly Aged Care.

The two places in Melbourne that run dedicated Div 2 Grad programs are private, Ramsay Health http://www.ramsayjobs.com.au/gradplus/victoria.asp and St Vincents Private & Mercy Private http://www.stvincentsmercy.com.au/careers/division_2_graduate_nurse_program.htm .

Just thought I'd share this for any Div 2 students/grads. I'm not due to finish my course for some time yet. Looks like I'll be applying next year!

But it is very encouraging to know these programs are available. Understandably, there are quite competetive to get into.

I went to the expo the year before and I found there was not as much for Div 2's but this year it seems to have improved. I would very much like to do a grad program and will be looking at St V's. I did a placement there and was offered work there as well so that would be great.

It is wonderful to see so many more doors opening up for us.

I was fortunate to do a grad year as a div 2, I guess they have changed somewhat now. I was in one of the first intakes for victora in a 'pilot program', there were 4 of us and we did the same modules/ learning objects as the div 1's. I learnt so much, it was fantastic.
