Hi everyone,

The final requirement of my course is my placement which at my Uni is actually after the exam. I've been offered an interview for a graduate nurse program that begins 5 business days after my placement finishes. It seems very improbable that my registration can come through in such a short time frame, because my university has to process my final grade, send all of my paperwork to AHPRA then they have to process my registration. Even though mid-year is not a high-traffic time for registrations. I also doubt that the hospital I'm applying to would simply allow me to start after my registration comes through, whenever that may be. I do plan on informing them of this situation at interview as well. I was just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation or knows someone who has? ie applying for graduate positions without knowing if you'll be registered by the start date, or if anyone has known a hospital who is willing to work around starting dates? any information would be appreciated

Your workplace can hurry along your AHPRA registration!!! One of my close friends got a fantastic Grad Spot and she had the same concerns as she. Luckily she'd already put her application in about 4 weeks prior to finishing but within a week of her course completion she had her registration through thanks to a phone call from her new work place. There's lots of ways around it :)

I was fortunate to gain a Grad program offer on my last day of school. I had shown the foresight to pre-register a month earlier to hasten my registration. Unfortunately even though my school did know about the offer there was a delay in processing my paperwork to AHPRA and consequently in my registration. As a result the organisation withdrew their offer and gave it to someone else.

Back online searching for a career again and Feb 15 i will be competing with those graduating in Dec 14...:(
