Suzanne, I didn't mention that I have just turned 39 also :o)

and my 83 was just from the stat test combined with the PCA. I found out that if I had just used one or the other my score would have been 73 either way but combined it jumped to 83. So maybe your cert 3 plus bridging got you higher than you think.

Yep I'm an oldie too LOL

My kids ar 15, 12 and 6 so all at school. My youngest will be going to after school care on my face to face days but the older two will just walk home and eat everything in the pantry I expect.

ok, my subjects are -

Apply effective communication skills in nursing practice. 45 hrs

Comply with infection control ploicies and procedures in health work. 40 hrs

Contribute to OHS processes. 30 hrs

Contribute to client assessment and developing nursing care plans. 60 hrs

Confirm physical health status. 80 hrs

Implement and monitor nursing care for older clients. 75 hrs

Analyse health information. 40 hrs

Apply first aid. 18 hrs

I also put the hours expected to fulfill next to them so that you can see that some of them are like part subjects.

I'm in Cairns so TNQIT (Cairns TAFE) is just about on my doorstep. So it's no real wonder that I chose face to face :o)

I would love to live there !!! So jealous .....

Gee lots of hours for those subjects .....The TAFE here I needed to do all these tests and English ect to get in ? Yet I can get into Uni ?? How does that work ? It seemed to be so much harder to get in to TAFE ?

No I don't have facebook, I don't trust it as I don't understand it.

Our eldest set me up with msn but I am just learning that. He added himself and hubby to it for me as I couldn't work it out LOL.

There wasn't any real prerequisits for TNQIT, just over 17 and preference given to those living in Cairns. During our first week of classes we have to sit a literacy and numeracy test to see if we will need any learning support. So maybe your local TAFE is more popular than TNQIT. I think everyone who applied in the last intake got accepted, too early to say for this intake, maybe the same.

I have to admit that I am really liking Cairns. I was worried that the sun would be too hot for my pink skin LOL but the whole city is just very relaxed and laid back. Not so great when you want something important done in a hurry but you soon learn that Cairns runs on its own time (not a different time zone LOL). I love the small town feel of where we live and the fact that we can swim all year round :o)

Hello!
I am fumbling my way through the enrolment process with CQU for external nursing! I am excited and nervous and bewildered!!

I have never studied anything since school and I am juggling a lot with 3 children under 4, a part time job and the rest that goes with that!

I am always up for a challenge but know the next three to six months are going to be one big ball of crazy!!!

I am so so new to all this that I am spending hours and hours just fiddling with all the online materials.

I see lots of students joining study groups to share readings - is this beneficial? Or is it good not to have the added pressure? Any tips?!

Hi Schmend , I have joined a study group for one subject . But im not sure if Ive done a good thing or not yet ? Seems to have put extra pressure on me at the moment ? Its meant to decrease your reading time as the group reads one thing each and sends the summary of it on to the rest ? My email is s0203130@student.cqu.edu.au

If you want to email me :)

Hi Suzanne,

Stay in the study group. From my experience with the subject it will work really well. There is plently of reading and most of it is uninteresting. So it's good to share it out. There will be times when you contribute more to the group. But there will also be times when you will contribute less. Join a big group as you may fine plenty of people drop out or join other groups.

Good luck with it. If you want to drop me a line my account is S0188350.

Also have you joined the CQU undergraduate facebook group?

Dave

Hi Everyone,

Have applied to study Nursing at CQU next year 2011 internally at Bundaberg. I have completed a Diploma in IT but wanted a change (I'm 38) also have just enrolled for the WIST course doing Maths, Communication and Science which I'm hoping will give me a better chance of getting accepted. Cannot wait though I'm very excited.

Regards Rachel

Hi RRR,

Have you done any other courses that helped you get in? I've applied for Rockhampton externally.

Hi Leishy,

I had completed a diploma of IT about 4 years ago and that would have helped. I think my GPA was 87.
