I am seeing alot of people posting questions on assignments that they are doing on subjects I have not reached yet.  And I am wondering is there many variations in the assignments between course providors? I can see some that I could start collecting information for now (eg. portfolio on services in the community) and If it is going to come up I would love to start collecting info now.  I also know that for myself it will benefit me to do it anyway but curiousity has gotten the better of me.

There a re core units every RTO has to run and electives that the RTO can choose from different groups. Should not be big variations.

Hi

Having worked in the aged care industry for many years as a trainer assessor for Certificate III in Aged Care, it is important to understand that although the core units and generic elective units are set by the government recommendations (see training.gov.au), the resources and methods of teaching are not pre set.

Each RTO can develop their own resources or buy them in from reputable companies at a cost.

The development of resources generally falls to the trainer training the units. So for one RTO you may have a case study and some written questions for one unit and at another RTO you could have an observation, project or role play for the same unit. The important fact is that any resource must address the unit criteria as well as the knowledge and skills specified in the training package.

So courses could vary dramatically across the country.

Hope this helps
